Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Aesop Data collects, why, and what choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible.

1. What we collect

  • Account details. When you sign in with a provider such as Google, we receive your name, email address and profile image.
  • Your content. Datasets you upload and presentations you create, so we can store and show them back to you.
  • Reactions. When you clap on a chart, we record that you did, to count it.
  • Basic usage & technical data. Standard log and analytics data (for example page views and device type) to keep the Service running and improve it.

2. What we do not do

We do not sell your personal data. Aesop Data is free in early beta, so we do not ask for or store any payment or card details.

3. Why we use it

  • to provide the Service (your account, presentations, uploads and reactions);
  • to keep the Service secure and diagnose problems;
  • to understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used so we can improve it.

4. Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers who help us run Aesop Data, under agreements that limit their use of it. These currently include:

  • Hosting & database - Vercel and Neon, which host the app and store your account, presentations and reactions.
  • Authentication - the identity provider you choose (for example Google) to sign you in.
  • Analytics - privacy-respecting product analytics to understand usage in aggregate.

5. Storage and retention

Your data is stored on infrastructure provided by our hosting and database vendors. We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records to comply with the law.

6. Legal basis

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you (running your account, presentations and uploads), on the basis of our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and improving it), on your consent where asked (e.g. marketing), and to meet legal obligations where they apply.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, export, delete and port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise the main ones yourself from your account page: Download my data (a full JSON export) and Delete account (permanent erasure of your account and all its data). For anything else, email us and we'll action it.

8. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to run the Service, plus privacy-respecting analytics. We do not use advertising trackers.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
